About The Event

Join us for an unforgettable culinary experience at our bed and breakfast, where we host hands-on cooking classes in our state-of-the-art kitchen studio. We are thrilled to welcome back Chef David Cruz, owner of Reconnect Foods, as he guides you through the art of making delicious bao from scratch. Expect an evening filled with laughter, learning, and delicious food. Under the expert guidance of Chef David Cruz, you'll gain hands-on experience in preparing each dish, from kneading and steaming the bao to assembling the perfect filling and accompaniments. This class is designed to be interactive and enjoyable, ensuring you leave with not only new culinary skills but also great memories.

 Menu: 

  • Homemade Bao: Learn the secrets to creating soft, fluffy bao buns that will impress your friends and family.
  • Braised Pork Belly & Local Mushrooms: Enjoy one of each filling options : flavorful pork belly and locally sourced mushrooms. 
  • Cabbage Slaw: Crisp and refreshing, this slaw adds the perfect crunch to your bao.
  • Salsa Verde: A zesty, tangy sauce that complements the flavors of your bao beautifully.
  • La Picosa: Experience a burst of flavor with La Picosa, a fiery condiment to awaken your taste buds.
  • Spicy Mayo: Add a creamy, spicy touch to your bao with homemade spicy mayo.
  • Seasonal Agua Fresca: Enjoy a refreshing, non-alcoholic beverage made with the freshest seasonal ingredients.

  • BYOB: This class is BYOB. Guests over the age of 21 are invited to bring their favorite drink to enjoy during the class.
  • Vegetarian Options: Vegetarian options are available with advance notice. Please inform us when you book your spot.

Chef David Cruz, a culinary virtuoso from Poughkeepsie, New York, crafts inventive farm-to-table cuisine using locally sourced, premium ingredients. With a rich background in Culinary Arts and Applied Food Studies from the Culinary Institute of America, Cruz seamlessly blends urban flair with natural elements. Committed to promoting nutritious choices and supporting local communities, he creates culinary experiences that nourish both body and soul, fostering connections between people and the food they eat.
